The Balvenie Distillery introduced "The Balvenie Masters of Craft Awards" to celebrate craftsmanship across the country, wherever it’s found. Now entering their second year, the awards are designed to celebrate and showcase a range of traditional artisan skills that continue to thrive in this country, producing desirable, high quality wares.
Anne Cuthbertson, editor of Sunday Telegraph Life, is one of eight judges:
“We have an amazing pool of talented craftsmen in Britain and I have noted a real surge in demand for unique products,” she says. “I’m delighted to be a member of the judging panel again this year and look forward to discovering new talent.”
For the creators, working by hand establishes a relationship with the materials that might not otherwise exist. “To become a master craftsman takes a huge amount of time and dedication, years of training and that’s enormously reassuring,” says judge Kevin McCloud.
